Another inflation busting fares increase on the rail network. A service that surely makes a profit for 12 hours out of every 24.
Wouldn't it be better if...
We re-nationalize the rail service, then provide incentives or even legislate for freight to be transported around the country overnight. This would remove some freight from the roads, reducing traffic congestion and also have a less negative environmental impact. perhaps this would allow the rail network to cease being so dependent on passenger fares, allowing a reduction in ticket prices and therefore making the rail system more attractive to commuters, further reducing road traffic and pollution etc. imagine...
